The new record is called Songs About Love. I realize that title could refer to anything. I like phrases that can do that. These songs tend to be about very many kinds of love so I figured it was an apt title. I made it myself with guitar, harmonica and my voice which seemed to be the safest way to make it at the time for various reasons. 2020 seemed like a good time to contemplate relationships. I think the main theme of the tunes is community. Sometimes it seems to fail us and sometimes to lift. Sometimes it is two entities and sometimes it’s more. It seems to involve one of, or some of, or all of the intellectual, emotional, sexual, physical, political, economical, etc. forces that act upon us throughout our lives. There are characters that seem to be alone and are not. And those that seem inundated that seem very alone.
To quote a lyric from Dream Dreams, the album is “slow and kinda shy”.
